Downtown Vancouver is a good place to stay for just about any reason because of its' convenient access to almost everything.

Finding a place to stay when you come to Vancouver can be pretty tight so you definitely want to make sure to plan your accommodations as far in advance as possible.

There are certain times that are guaranteed not as easy as others to find a place to stay like year round pretty much any long weekend and the summer high season from May to September.

By starting early you will have many options including luxury, mid-range and cheap hotel rooms and suites, vacation rental properties, hostels, guest homes and bed and breakfast rooms.

The thing to do when you are planning where to stay is to have a bit of a budget in mind and decide on the kind of activities you would like to do. That way you can look for accommodations that are within a reasonable distance of the things you like to do and you won't have to travel far to enjoy them.

When you are downtown you are within a reasonable distance to many major attractions like Stanley Park, Gastown, Chinatown, BC Place and GM Stadiums, The Cruise Ship Terminal, Science World, Harbour Centre Lookout, night life, theatre, all kinds of shopping and some of the best dining on the planet.

When you are downtown you are also ideally situated to get on the highway and head out of town for a day trip.

Head west up the Sea to Sky Highway all the way up to Whistler Ski Resort. The route will take you through scenic Oceanside towns and villages where you can stop to golf, fish or hike.

Head south; towards the seaside fishing village of Steveston you can buy the day's catch from local fishers right off the wharf; or stop along the way at a local farm for seasonal fruit and produce.

Head east out into the valley and you're into more farmland, the historical town of Fort Langley and the Harrison Lake Resort where they have the world championship sandcastle competition.

If the kind of activities you want to do include a lot of beach walks and sun-bathing look for beach side accommodations like vacation rental homes and rental apartments.

No matter where you plan to stay, Vancouver and the surrounding areas of the lower mainland have many fabulous places to offer. Just do yourself a favor and avoid disappointment by booking as far in advance as possible.

Carnival Cruises: Big Values From The Biggest Cruise Line

The name of Carnival Cruises is synonymous with cruise vacations, and Carnival Cruise Lines is now the largest single cruise operator in the business, with its acquisitions of Costa, Cunard, Princess, P&O, Seabourn, the Holland America Line, and five additional cruise operators on North America, Australia, and Europe.

In the thirty five years of its existence since the 1972 inaugural sailing of the TSS Mardi Gras, which unfortunately ran aground on a sandbar in the port of Miami, Carnival Cruise Lines have currently grown to operate a fleet of cruise ships large enough to qualify as a private navy, and may Carnival cruises may cover much of the Earth’s oceans as the world’s great navies do.

Carnival Cruise Lines have gone to great lengths to brand their ships as “The Fun Ships,” and originally made their name by offering short, inexpensive cruises on vessels with décor and entertainment reminiscent of Las Vegas. The most recognizable features of carnival cruise ships are their red-white-and-blue funnels built to resemble the tails of whales, and Fun Ship Freddy, a fantasy figure whose head resembles the Carnival ship funnel.

Carnival Destinations

Carnival Cruises aboard the carnival ship line are most often scheduled for the Caribbean, but as of 2007 Carnival cruises aboard the Carnival Freedom to both Turkey and Greece, and aboard the Carnival Spirit to Alaska and Hawaii are now available. In the Southern Caribbean, Carnival Destiny leaves from the Ports of San Juan, Aruba, and Barbados, and the Carnival Fantasy class ships are reserved for the prototypical three to five day Carnival cruises from Miami to ports in Mexico, the Bahamas, and nearby Caribbean destinations.

Carnival Entertainments And Eateries

Regardless of their itineraries, Carnival cruises are famous for the amazing variety of onboard diversions they offer their passengers. Every ship has at least two swimming pools, complete with waterslides, and on the Destiny-class ships one of the pools will have a retractable roof so swimming is always available no matter where the Carnival cruises are headed. The ships’ casinos are a major attraction on Carnival cruises, and in their glitz and neon they compare well to those of Las Vegas resorts. But the forte of Carnival cruises might well be in the cruise line’s approach to feeding its guests.

Carnival is adopting a schedule of four dinner seatings, instead of the traditional two, in some of its ships’ main dining rooms, and it is also beginning to include restaurants which specialize in a particular type of cuisine along with its regular restaurants. Meals at these specialty restaurants will be at no additional cost. Some lucky guests on Carnival cruises will even have a patisserie where they can indulge to their hearts’ content!

If Carnival cruises sound like the perfect vacations to you, just be sure to research the amenities of each ship before you book a cabin, because they will vary widely depending on the class of Carnival ship you book!

If you have the time, and you have the financial resources, you’ll never find any more enjoyable way to spend them than by booking yourself a six-star luxury cruise!

Ever wondered what it’s like at the centre of an Egyptian pyramid? Those who have been on holiday to Egypt may have powerful memories of this, along with the hubbub of the Egyptian marketplace, inquisitive locals sucking on shisha pipes, chaotic mingling of people and traffic, hieroglyphics, the ethereal mask of Tutankhamun and tourist guides proffering camel rides and souvenirs at Giza. Steeped in ancient history, Egypt is an explosion of vibrant colour and mystical intrigue. Travel to Egypt and you’ll remember it for the rest of your life!

Tourism in Egypt

Where else could you sit on a camel and gaze up at the imposing Great Sphinx through a hazy desert sunset? Egypt is so crammed with drama and energy that it’s no wonder the number of holidays to Egypt has reached record levels. According to news agency Mena, 9.7 million went to Egypt on holiday in 2006-7, an increase of 13 per cent on the previous year. Hospitality for those travelling in Egypt is clearly thriving and there is a good choice of hotels in the tourist areas of Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Alexandria, as well as the tourist resorts of Hurghada and Sharm-el Sheikh.

When to go

Due to its proximity to the equator, Egypt’s climate is hot and dry and winters are mild. In the summer, daytime temperatures often exceed 45C. Whilst many of the historic sites may be empty during mid-summer, the searing heat limits sightseeing for most to mornings and evenings. As a result of this, and the equally alarming prospect of being hounded by swarms of summer mosquitoes, the most popular time to travel to Egypt is mid-October to May, when it is not too uncomfortably hot to explore the country’s many visitor sites.

Holidays in Egypt

A holiday in Egypt has so much to offer and cheap Egyptian holidays can be found on certain websites. Visitors to Egypt can entertain themselves with such unique experiences as a cruise down the Nile, a Saharan wildlife safari or a tour of Egypt’s bustling capital, Cairo. Egypt is well connected by trains but many tourists discover finding their own way around such a large country a daunting prospect and, as a result, package tours of Egypt are increasingly popular.

Shopping in Egypt

Shopping in Egypt is an opportunity not to be missed. Locally made goods are abundant and, for the proficient haggler, can be obtained at very good prices. Egyptian cotton is renowned for its purity and luxuriant scarves, hand-made carpets, perfume concentrates, authentic papyrus and pharaonic objects can all be found at local bazaars. The Khan-al-Khalili bazaar in Cairo, a shopping area since 1382, is particularly popular among those on holiday in Egypt due to its extensive range of goods and central location.

The Pyramids

Any tour of Egypt would be incomplete without a visit to the iconic Pyramids of Giza, the Great Pyramid being one of the Seven Wonders of the World, as well as having been the world’s tallest structure for over 3,800 years. Ever since these massive funerary homes were constructed for Egypt’s great Pharaohs of 2700-2200 BC they have been a source of fascination for travellers. While the structures may look impressive today, at the time they were built the pyramids were capped with gold and covered with polished white limestone.

As for what it’s like at the centre, in case you were wondering, there’s a tomb, it’s swelteringly hot, there are dozens of tourists exhausted from struggling, bent-double, through the tiny corridors, and there may just be a lurking opportunist gathering ‘payment’.

Atwood House

Built in the neoclassical Georgian revival style, Atwood House welcomes you. Step into the parlor and marvel at the elegance of midwestern luxury. This is a page straight out of the days of the railroad baron's. The setting is complete with the player piano and period furniture. The staircase is reminiscent of the mansions built by the cattle barons, right down to the chandeliers. No visit to the capital of Nebraska is complete without a stop at the Atwood house.

Newlyweds will be most attracted to the three-room Atwood Suite. Enjoy the leather sofa in the living room as you relax by the fire crackling from the real wood that it burns. In the bedroom are the three-piece walnut and marble Victorian king-sized bed and ornate walnut wardrobe. The roman style bath features a two-person corner heart-shaped whirlpool tub. This suite is as large as some homes so nothing is crowded here.

The western aristocracy is well reflected in the Beals Suite. Center stage here is the three-piece walnut tester king-sized bed. The ambience is aptly set with the Victorian furnishings. Enter the bath and relax in the two person Jacuzzi with handheld shower.

Located just next to the main house is the three-room Carriage suite. The sitting room boasts a vaulted ceiling and leather queen-sized hide-a-bed. The king-sized bed in the bedroom is located next to the French doors of the bath that features a two-person aquatic whirlpool.

The Frank A. Little Suite has an L shaped layout that separates the bedroom area from the living room area. The three-piece walnut bedroom set features a high-backed carved king-sized bed. The bath area features a corner shower and claw foot tub and pedestal sink. Sink into the rocker in the living area and relax with your favorite magazine.

Planning a camping trip with your family is an ideal way to build a closer family bond, and will help to establish a good relationship between parent and child. With the right equipment and extra planning a family camping trip can become a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone.

When selecting and shopping for camping gear, you should consider purchasing camping gear for the children. This will make it easier and more enjoyable for the children and make them feel more independent. Kids camping gear can be found at any local sporting goods store, or a department store. There are several kids camping gear that you can purchase, which include tents, sleeping bags, flashlights, clothing, and other camping gear that is suitable for children. By purchasing kids camping gear, you will make the children feel more independent because they now have their own gear.

Once you have the kids camping gear purchased and sorted out, you should then think ahead and start planning the camping trip. Whenever children are coming along on a camping trip you should always plan on camping in an area where there are several activities that the children can enjoy. Camping with children can become more enjoyable when they bring along playmates. Two or more children can entertain themselves much longer than a single child can. Bringing along games to play can also make the camping experience a lot more enjoyable.

Aside from purchasing kids camping gear and ensuring that they are entertained, you must also think of way to ensure the safety of your children. By equipping them with the proper gear and safety tips you will have a piece of mind. Teach your children to stay within eyesight, or if they are older to teach them to stay within earshot. You should also teach them to stay where they are if ever they are lost. If your child is over the age of 4, they are old enough to be given a whistle that they can wear around their neck and be taught to blow the whistle if ever they are in danger or lost. You should also provide each child with their own flashlight, as they will feel more at ease at night. Layering your children with clothing is another great idea as children get colder faster than adults, and if ever they become too hot they can always remove an item of clothing.

With the right equipment, and proper planning, you can ensure that all will enjoy your family camping trip. Always make sure that everyone agrees on an ideal location and time, as this will help set the mode for the trip. If everyone agrees on one site, then there will not be discouraged campers.

Have you recently decided that you would like to travel to Hawaii? If so, how did you reach that decision? What is it about Hawaii that makes you want to travel there? If you are like many others who travel to Hawaii, each year, there is a good chance that the beaches were your reason. Hawaii is most well-known for its white sandy beaches and clear ocean waters. That is one of the reasons why Hawaii has become known as one of the most popular vacation destinations, in the entire world!

Since you just recently decided that you would like to travel to Hawaii, there is a good chance that you have yet to start planning your vacation or making your vacation reservations. If that is the case, you are advised to take a few minutes and think about Hawaii beach rentals. They are one of the best ways to help ensure that you not only enjoy your vacation, but that you have the time of your life. Regardless of which Hawaiian Island you choose to visit, you should be able to book at stay at a Hawaii beach rental.

When it comes to Hawaii beach rentals, you will find that a number of different overnight accommodations are included. These accommodations tend to include arrangements where you are actually renting a place to stay, even if it is just for a week. Although they are similar in nature, Hawaii beach rentals are often considered different than beachfront hotels or resorts. If you are looking to book a stay at a Hawaii beach rental, you will likely be staying at a Hawaii beachfront vacation home or a Hawaii beachfront vacation condo. This is because they are the two most common types overnight accommodations that are considered Hawaii beach rentals. If you have yet to make a decision, you will need to decide whether you would like to rent a beachfront condo or a beachfront vacation home.

When it comes to Hawaii beachfront rentals, one of the most popular choices is that of a vacation home. Hawaii beachfront vacation homes are nice because they are just that, homes. Aside from being located along a coast, beachfront vacation homes are also popular because they can bring the comfort of home right into your vacation. Vacation homes are typically one family homes that are situated on small pieces of land, often right along the shoreline. In addition to coming equipped with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, many Hawaii beachfront vacation homes also come with full kitchens, dining rooms, and laundry rooms. As previously mentioned, Hawaii vacation homes allow you to feel the comfort of your own home, while still being thousands of miles away.

In addition to Hawaii beachfront vacation homes, as previously mentioned, Hawaii beachfront vacation condos are also considered Hawaii vacation rentals. With a Hawaii vacation condo, you are given your own private living space, but that living space is often housed inside fairly large building. Hawaii vacation condos are popular on all the Hawaiian Islands, but they tend to be found in popular Hawaii vacation destinations. This is mostly because Hawaii beachfront condo buildings are able to accommodate a large number of vacationers; thus the reason for targeting popular vacation destinations or destinations with limited amounts of space. Depending on the type of Hawaii vacation condo you choose to rent, if you choose to rent one, you should also have access to multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a dinning room.

When determining which Hawaii beach rental you should choose, you are advised to keep your wants in mind. For instance, if you are looking for privacy and seclusion, it may be a good to stay at a vacation home and so on. Regardless of which type of Hawaii beach rental you choose to stay at, you will likely be pleased with your decision to stay by the coast.

The resident clown grabs a twig from the dirt, waves it in the air and then places it at the feet of the object of his affection. A blue foot raised, and then the other. Head held high, he unruffled the full stretch of his wings and whistles skywards. Even the quietest honk from his beloved brings satisfaction and justification for this comical dance, and it begins all over again.

But here on the volcanic islands of the Galapagos, some 600 miles from mainland Ecuador, the rather silly-looking Blue-footed Boobies are not the only ones to have cornered the market on ungainly, yet touching displays of courtship.

On another island a hopeful Waved Albatross couple engages in their own elaborate mating dance. Up, down, back and forth, the albatrosses face off and click their beaks together. Ah, it must be love! Nearby the dark form of a male Magnificent Frigate bird positions himself regally among the branches of a tree and balloons out a red bladder on his throat in an attempt to attract the ladies.

The archipelago of 13 large islands and more than 100 smaller isles and islets offers many pure, white sandy shores and luminous, blue waters, but this is no place for sunning yourself on the beach all day. On the Galapagos – from the Spanish name given to the Giant Land Tortoises that cruise the hills and undergrowth at their own leisurely speed – you enter into what appears to be a cageless zoo, where the unusual array of creatures seem to literally line up for your enjoyment and you can expect to be continually, both visually and intellectually, stimulated by the distinctive beauty and natural history around you.

As you wander over boulders, lava flows, sandy beaches, brush, and more, you’ll observe the unique and often unusual characteristics of island birds, reptiles, mammals, and fish – species not found anywhere else in the world – witnessing firsthand the subtleties of evolution that helped to inspire Darwin.

Storm petrels “walk” across water and graceful red-billed tropic birds screech across the sky. The dragons of the Galapagos – the marine iguanas – clamber over each other and settle to sun themselves piled claw on head and spurting salt water from their nostrils.

Like the animals on land, the creatures that inhabit the waters around the Galapagos have not evolved with a sense of fear of humans, and your presence will seem no more than a curiosity to them.

As you explore some 50,000 square miles of marine reserve you will discover a realm where penguins swim in equatorial seas, elegant green sea turtles glide through cool currents and hammerhead sharks patrol the deeper waters.

Snorkeling mask to whiskers with sea lion pups, the only letdown will be the disappointed looks you’ll get when you head to the surface for air. Maybe that’ll be enough to convince you to take that diving course you’ve always thought about taking.

Australians call the Great Barrier Reef the eighth wonder of the world, and it's on every traveller's wish list. Alas, like so many reefs, this 1,500-mile stretch is ecologically fragile. But castaways can set sandal on the 'new' Wilson Island knowing that their creature comforts are based on sound environmental principles; heat and light are by solar power and each of the six tents are created out of natural materials. There are separate bathrooms for each tent.

Beachcombing and birdwatching, swimming and snorkelling, reef walks and relaxing in your hammock are what Wilson Island is about during the day. Wining, dining and socialising take place later in the communal Longhouse.

The only way you can get to Wilson Island is via Heron Island.

Wilson island could well be described as the ultimate castaway experience as you will realise shortly.

The accommodation and all the principles of Wilson Island are based on eco principles which are firmly adhered to!

Take a look at photographs at http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com/articles/14/1/Wilson-Island-Great-Barrier-Reef/Page1.html

Wilson Island as previously stated in on the Great Barrier Reef off the Queensland coast, and quite frankly it is difficult to imagine anything more attractive, although the three day Wilson Island Package was about long enough.

Beauty, there is in abundance, but like most of us, I have been spoiled by the 21st century luxuries that we now associate with dream islands, such as luxury bathrooms, mains electricity, to name but two!!

Compensations are an unrivalled natural beauty, beautifully clean and clear water, wonderful coral, and tropical fish to snorkel and see easily.

It is however a castaway experience with six permanent tents. The six tents have been designed to combine simplicity and comfort. Based on a modern beachcombing theme, the tents have raised timber floors, king-sized beds and a private decking with uninterrupted reef views. You will be supplied with everything you need apart from en-suite bathroom, but you will need the complete insect screening, and repellent.

The views from the tents are quite breathtaking.

All electricity is I believe by solar power, and batteries, so none of your electrical appliances will work, and the fresh water is rainwater, so all drinking water is bottled.

A separate building houses six showers and dressing area (one designated for each tent), along with toilet and vanity areas. This I’m afraid took be back to my youth hostelling/camping days which I had left behind long ago.

Entertainment and food are not forgotten; each evening begins with sunset pre-dinner drinks and canapés on the beach. The main course is a candle-lit three-course buffet meal with wine, served in the resort's entertainment building, the Longhouse.

After dinner, guests can join an evening star-gazing walk or even a beach walk to observe the turtles nesting.

A popular activity for early risers is a walk to an area of the island known as the 'Flintstone Chairs'. These naturally carved coral chairs offer a spectacular view of the colourful Wilson Island sunrise.

Quite honestly this is a beautiful place, but there really is very little to do, apart from wonderful snorkelling, and scuba diving. It is a bit rustic for my taste but in fairness that is what is part of the initial appeal.

Two last things, the wines are very good, and there are no children under the age of sixteen.

When one thinks of modern art, they also usually think of that art being housed in a very modern gallery. This is not the case with the Queen Sofia. The building was constructed in the 18th century. It’s life was to end in the 1970’s, with a date to be demolished, but it was then declared a historic monument and preserved, then turned into a museum.

Not only is the building a place to view great works, it also offers a great view of the city. The building has transparent framed elevators that you will travel on as you go to the gallery. From the elevator, you can get a fabulous view of Madrid.

Once you step out of the elevator, your art experience is underway. First, you will encounter a selection of Solana artworks including The Circle of the Cafe Pombo, The Meeting of the Pharmacy, and The Chorus Girls. While these are more modern of pieces, the collection runs the range from the late 19th century to modern day works.

There is an ample collection of Miro in the museum, which is a very popular attraction with the crowds who come in. The collection includes Escargot, Femme, Man With A Pipe, Fleur, and Femme et Oiseau Dans La Nuit (Woman and Bird in the Night). These works were painted in the 20s and 30s in Barcelona.

Another very popular series of works in the museum are those of Dali. Included at the Queen Sophia are By the Light of the Moon from 1927, the 1945 portrait Galarina, and his 1951 and 1955 Crucifixion paintings.

Of course, many are drawn to the several Picasso pieces housed in the museum. They may not be what many would expect from a Picasso assortment. Included in this collection is his 1896 First Communion , which has a young Picasso painting in a very academic style. In addition, the 1901 Woman In Blue also shows some of his younger work.

You begin to see Picasso’s cubist style in the 1907 Las Señoritas de Avignon . Eye catching is the 1937 Guernica painting, which displays Picasso’s impression of a bombing of this town.

The Queen Sophia collection is not limited to paintings. The collection also includes over 46,000 square yards of exhibition area which houses a number of pieces of porcelain, glass, pottery and other works of art. In addition, there is a library for studies and research into artworks, as well as a cafeteria once you work up an appetite from your travel through the vast halls.

The Baa atoll is normally reached from the airport by seaplanes and speedboats. It’s a long way on a speedboat so a seaplane flight is the recommended way.

The resort islands are still completely unspoiled and here you will find some of the best snorkelling, diving and surfing spots in the Maldives

There is no doubt the principal attractions are the unspoilt natural beauty of the Baa Atoll, the untouched beaches, and the pristine condition reefs.

The hotels which appear below are also a reason for visiting the Baa Atoll.

Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu is a 5 star hotel with 99 rooms which is 124 Km from the airport, and will take 30 minutes by sea plane.

Four Seasons Landaa Giravaru is a 5 star deluxe hotel with 102 rooms, and it is 120 Km from the airport, with a 30 minute transfer by sea plane.

Reethi Beach Resort is a 4 star hotel with 100 rooms and it is 104Km from the airport, which will take about 30 minutes by sea plane.

Royal Island Resort and Spa is a 5 star hotel with 150 rooms, and it is 110 Km from the airport, and the transfer by speed boat will take 2 Hours and 40 Minutes, or 35 minutes by sea plane.

Soneva Fushi Resort & Six Senses Spa is a 6 star deluxe hotel with 65 rooms, which is 96 Km from the airport and a 30 minute transfer by sea plane.

There are only 13 inhabited islands from the total of 50 islands.

It was as recently as 1998 that the first tourist resort on Baa Atoll opened, followed by four more Maldives luxury hotels, and these resorts have increased employment on the Baa Atoll. The other islands remain as they were, totally unexploited with white sandy beaches, whose only real visitors are tourists on hotel excursions.

Baa Atoll does have possibly the top Maldives Luxury Hotel in the Soneva Fushi Resort Maldives, but the Four Seasons Resort Maldives, the Coco Palm Maldives, the Four Seasons Resort Maldives, and the Royal Resort Maldives number amongst the resorts that should be on your list.

Like most of the Costa Blanca region, Benidorm weather is favourable for most of the year. The city is surrounded by mountains that offer natural protection from the cold north winds. This gives the area a favourable climate even in the winter months.

Benidorm has what is known as a typical Mediterranean climate. A Mediterranean climate has long, hot summers and a moderate winter. The autumn and spring temperatures are generally warm. Summer is the most popular time to visit the area. The hot weather and infrequent rain make it a perfect time for the beach.

Benidorm Weather in Spring and Summer

May through October is the most popular time to visit the Costa Blanca. The Spring in this region has mild, sunny weather. Most days are warm and sunny, with very little rain. In the Spring months the high temperatures range from 16 to 21 degrees Celsius. The low temperatures range from 9 to 14 degrees Celsius.

Some people choose Spring for their Benidorm vacations. The weather is beautiful. The temperatures are cooler than in the summer, but are still comfortable and warm for spending time outdoors. This is particularly true in the later Spring. If you want to enjoy the sun and warm weather, but want to avoid the crowds, consider taking your vacation in Spring.

The area is known for long, hot summers. The average high temperatures for the summer months range from 15 to 27 degrees Celsius. August is the hottest month in the area, with temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) not uncommon. The temperatures cool somewhat in the evenings. The average over night temperatures range from 18 to 21 degrees Celsius.

The summer is the hottest season and best for beaches. It can also be very busy and crowded during the summer months, as this is when most people visit the area. If you plan to travel in the summer months, you will want to reserve your flight, hotel and car hire well in advance. Waiting too long could leave you with limited options.

Benidorm Weather in Autumn and Winter

Although this area doesn’t get much rain, Autumn is the rainy season. This is the least popular time to visit the Costa Blanca. Larger rain storms are not uncommon. In some cases, flooding happens at this time of the year. Electrical storms are quite common, especially in September.

The temperatures in autumn remain mild. The average high temperatures in the fall are between 16 and 25 degrees Celsius. The night temperatures drop to between 11 and 19 degrees Celsius. Rain storms often happen at night.

This area is known for mild winters, compared to many areas of Europe. For this reason, Benidorm is a popular winter destination for Northern Europeans looking to get away from the colder temperatures. The area is also popular among retired persons. Many come to Benidorm for the entire winter and return home in the Spring.

The winter temperatures are very mild and snow almost never falls. The average high temperatures in the winter months range from 12 to 14 degrees Celsius. This is still warm enough for a round of golf or relaxing outside. At night, the temperature drops. The average night time temperatures range from 6 to 8 degrees Celsius. There is very little rain in the winter months.

It has two distinct landscapes - the vast mountainy land of Connemara to the west of Lough Corrib and the rich farming plains of Galway East. The population of the County (all the areas outside of Galway City) is estimated at just over 143,000. The County is predominantly rural with just over 15% living in towns of more than 1,500 people.

Galway City is one of the fastest growing cities in Europe, often referred to as the bi-lingual capital of Ireland, Galway city is the perfect mix of old and new. A bustling shopping centre with wonderful little boutique cafes along the pedestrianised streets and plenty of craic at night with a host of live music venues to choose from.

For a taste of the “real” Ireland Connemara is a must. Gaeilge is the predominant language of choice here and the people are warm and friendly with a typical Cead Mile Failte Irish welcome. The beautiful rugged landscape is as yet unspoilt by progress.

Take in the majestic splendour of the Twelve Bens mountain range in the north as you make your way further south to the well knows seaside resort of Salthill. Something for everyone here from the landmark Leisureland complex with its indoor and outdoor childrens activities to the quieter restaurants and bars further back from the sandy seafront and promenade.

Galway County Council recently lead a project to create a Galway East Ecclesiastical Trail. The Trail features over 40 sites of interest to ‘culture and heritage seekers’. This area also features Portumna Castle on the banks of the Shannon and Coole Park and Thoor Ballylee associated with literary legends W.B. Yeats and Lady Gregory founder of Ireland’s National Theatre.

There are four main inhabited Islands off the coast of Galway including the world renowed Irish speaking Aran Islands and Inisboffin. In total there are 18 inhabited islands in County Galway. It is worth a visit across to the islands to enjoy such activities as walking, cycling, swimming, horse-riding, diving, basket-making and learning a little of the Irish language and culture. Inis Mor, the largest of the Aran Islands, is home to the world famous Dun Aonghasa monument and the islands heritage centre is wonderfully informative of the lives of previous inhabitants. An overnight stay is highly recommended in order to sample the traditional night life.

The Summer Festival Race Meeting at Galway Racecourse is renowned worldwide. Veteran race goers, and indeed those who simply love the atmosphere, travel from around the world for this unique experience.

The Festival runs for seven consecutive days starting from the last Monday in July each year. There are special race days, such as, Ladies Day, The Big Bash and Mad Hatter’s Day which add fun and excitement to the event. A record number of people, 220,000, attended the Summer Festival Meeting in 2006.

In addition to good road access, Galway is increasingly well serviced by over 100 direct flights a week to Galway Airport, Shannon and Ireland West Airport (Knock) as well as daily train services from Dublin through Galway East to Galway City provided by Iarnród Eireann. Bus Eireann services the area with regular coaches to and from the rest of the country.

If you are considering a trip that will offer adventure beyond your wildest dreams, perhaps an African safari tour is for you. In Swahili, “safari” means journey, but today the word has become associated with adventure, exploration and amazing sights and sounds. There are a number of African safari tours that you can choose from, and they will vary greatly depending on the level of comfort that you are looking for and the budget that you can afford. Keep in mind that even the most basic African safari tours will cost a hefty amount, so this is not a trip that most folks will generally take on the fly.

It usually requires plenty of time to save and plan to embark on a safari adventure that will be satisfying, educational and comfortable. There are generally four types of safari adventures that you can take: a mobile safari, a permanent tented safari, a lodge tour or a fly-in adventure.

Types of African Safari Tours

Many African safari tours will require you to sleep in a tent of one type or another each night. Some of these tents are permanent fixtures that are set on concrete slabs away from the damp and bugs of the area. These are called permanent tented safaris. Others require you or your safari staff to pitch a tent each night in the spot that you stop.

These are called mobile safaris, and offer many great opportunities to encounter the wildlife of the area. For those who prefer comfort and even luxury with their adventure, the lodge tours will provide shelter at night that ranges from a basic type of motel to luxury accommodation.

These African safari tours tend to run in the much higher price range, but can offer a resort feel out in the middle of the wild. Finally, you can explore the more distant locations by small plane in what is known as a fly-in adventure.

Preparing for your Adventure

No matter what type of African safari tour you choose, you must plan ahead to make the most of your trip. Flying to this country generally requires immunizations and other medical care to prevent illness and injury from occurring on the trip. You will also need to outfit yourself with the proper gear and clothing that will help you to handle the elements as well as the pests and insects of the region.

It is also important to bring plenty of equipment that will aid in your wildlife viewing, such as cameras, binoculars, and perhaps even a laptop to capture pictures and memories in a journal. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many travelers, so preparation is key in ensuring that your African safari tour is one trip that you will never forget.

Las Vegas: America's Real Favorite Pastime

If you are fortunate enough to be a frequent visitor to Las Vegas, then you know that lodging can get rather expensive. Sure, it's nothing compared to the bankroll you lost at the blackjack table last night, but that's all the more reason to save a little money on your accommodations while you're there. If you don't mind not walking through a casino every time you head to breakfast in the morning, you may find that Las Vegas vacation home rentals off the strip and outside the main part of Las Vegas are better than a standard hotel.

Rent a Vegas Vacation House Together with Friends

Las Vegas homes feature some of the most unique and decorative architecture in Nevada. The colors and designs that mirror the desert exude luxury. The best part about these homes is that you can rent one with several bedrooms for the same price as a suite at one of the elaborate hotel/casinos on the strip. This is especially good if you are traveling with several people. One way to make a Vegas vacation home rental more affordable is to collaborate with friends or relatives and rent a house together. A 4500 square foot home within walking distance from the Las Vegas strip rents for approximately $600 per night. That seems extreme until you find out that it has six bedrooms and can sleep up to 15 people! That breaks down to $40 per person per night. When was the last time you were able to spend a week anywhere and pay just $280 for your hotel room?

A Private Rental Home for Just $81 per Person per Night

If your vacation budget is a little more relaxed, consider living in the true lap of luxury about ten minutes from the strip. A private rental home completely surrounded in gates and trees sits on a little over half an acre. Six bedrooms, including a master suite, four bathrooms, two laundry rooms, a full kitchen, formal dining room and an outside lounge make this Las Vegas vacation compound perfect for family functions, weddings, work retreats or just a truly luxurious getaway outside Las Vegas. The weekly rate for a home of this caliber is around $8500, or $567 per person per week. This is still an absolute steal when you consider that it is about $81 per person per night.

A Luxurious Vacation Home for Just $130 per person

Perhaps the most luxurious and elaborate vacation home rental is nestled just half a mile away from the Las Vegas Strip in a private, gated neighborhood. It sleeps up to 20 people and can accommodate nearly 200 for parties and events. The property includes two buildings, the main house with six bedrooms and the guest house which includes two.

You can also enjoy the large family room, kitchen, full bar, formal dining area, office, pool table, big screen televisions, and yes, even slot machines. Don't forget about the gas Barbeque Grill, pool and spa in the lavish back yard. The rates for this extravagant getaway begin at $2600 per night, which translates to about $130 per person. That is about the price of a moderate hotel room in the heart of the strip.

As you can see, Las Vegas vacation home rentals can be extremely expensive or incredibly economical, depending on how you spin it. $2500 per night is a ridiculous amount of money if it's you and your husband sharing a mansion-like luxury villa, but for a getaway with the whole immediate and extended family, it's not such a bad deal. Fortunately there are many rental management companies that manage these homes and many others. They can help you find the best Las Vegas vacation home rentals to suite your group size and budget restrictions.

The Malaga airport is often considered one of the best and most efficient in Spain. A nearly constant flow of tourists come into the Costa del Sol area through this airport every day. The city is situated among many attractions that are of interest to visitors. About twelve million passengers each year fly into this city.

Tips on the Malaga Airport

Due to the heavy traffic in this airport, they have become very efficient at offering services that meet the needs of travellers. Information on these services is available at the information desk in the airport. These are located in the entrance hall of both terminals and are easy to find.

There are two terminals at the airport. Most passengers come in or out through terminal two. Since this is the most used terminal, you may want to arrive early for your flight home. Allow plenty of time to check in and find where you are going. As with most airports, security is a concern and extra time is needed.

This is a large, international airport. Over 120 airports throughout the world offer flights into Malaga. For this reason, it’s possible to get good deals on flights. The downside is the additional traffic in and around the airport. This is another reason to allow for extra time when your vacation is over.

If you arrive early and want to eat, most of the restaurants and fast food places are located in Terminal one. There is also a pharmacy in this terminal. A few restaurants are located on the second floor of terminal two. Most of the shopping is also located in terminal one. There is a duty free shop in terminal two.

Most airlines offer assistance to passengers with disabilities. If you or someone in your party will need assistance in getting around the terminal, help is available. Notify the airline in advance of any special needs.

Transportation from Malaga Airport

Once you arrive at the airport, you have several options for reaching your final destinations. There are many ways to get where you are going. The first, and maybe most convenient is to hire a car. There are several car hire services located in the airport terminal. Other companies will arrange to pick you up. Either way, book in advance to be sure the car you want is available.

A taxi is available at the airport to surrounding towns. The fare you will pay depends upon your destination. If you are staying in a town close to the airport, a cab ride isn’t very expensive. The further out you travel, the higher the fare you will pay.

There are many options for public transportation from the airport as well. A train transfer from the airport is located outside the international terminal. The ride from the airport to the city is about twelve minutes long. The trains run from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. everyday. The trains come at half hour intervals, so you won’t have to wait long.

The public minibus is available for larger groups. This bus stops at ten destinations around the Costa del Sol. The fare depends on your destination. The further away, the more you will pay. Smaller groups can take the shuttle coach. This is less expensive and travels to coastal resorts around Malaga. You will need to book the shuttle in advance.

The Malaga airport bus schedule is available at the airport information desk. This bus is not a direct route, but will stop along the way to pick up and drop off passengers. There is one direct bus. This runs from the airport to the Marbella bus station.

When you go to Florida, wildlife confronts you everywhere. Especially all the exotic birds fascinated me, often you come up close to subtropical bird species while playing golf or picnicking in a public park.

Central Florida is actually a much more interesting destination for naturalists than I would ever have expected. Both Florida's plant life and wildlife are surprisingly diverse and Florida is the 3rd most ecologically diverse state after Hawaii and California.

It is a nearly flat lowland that gently slopes to the sea on the east and west coasts. This lowland has unique physical features that are associated with the diverse ecosystems that exist here. The predominantly low-lying topography was created by fluctuating sea levels over time. Coastal features include dunes, barrier islands, lagoons and tidal rivers, which were formed by tides, currents and winds.

The interior of Central Florida is characterized by swamps, marshlands and inland lakes, a haven for birds. South of Orlando is the Lake Wales Ridge, a ridge of sand hills paralleled by flatlands and sandy rolling hills. This ridge used to be an island in earlier geological times when ocean levels were higher. As a result many of the species that exist here are unique to this area.

The Florida Birding Trail (http://www.floridabirdingtrail.com) is a collection of sites throughout Florida selected for their excellent bird watching or bird education opportunities. This 2000-mile trail is designed to conserve and enhance Florida's bird habitat and promotes bird watching activities, environmental education and economic opportunity.

Florida truly is a birder's paradise, due to its unique geographical location between tropical and temperate regions. Florida is also a destination for many migratory birds from the north, some birds fly 3,000 miles to get here. In total Florida is home to more than 470 verified species of birds. A great article about the different species of birds found in Florida can be found at the Florida's Birders List, provided by Visit Florida.

Some of the unique birds to watch in Florida include the following:

American Avocet Limpkin

American White Pelican Mottled Duck

Anhinga Pine Warbler

Bald Eagle Purple Gallinule

Black-Bellied Whistling Duck Roseate Spoonbill

Black-Necked Stilt Sandhill Crane

Crested Caracara Snail Kite

Eastern Bluebird Swallow-Tailed Kite

Florida Scrub-Jay Wood Stork

Naturally, one of the most well-known Florida animals is the American alligator. And although this time we didn't see any (except for a gator tail sticking out from under some shrubs on our Swamp Buggy Tour), alligators have made an incredible comeback after they were headed for extinction due to overhunting earlier in the 20th century. Alligators were taken off the federal endangered species list in 1987, and on particularly warm days they can be seen sunning themselves on the edges of ponds and waterways.

Different species of fish also exist in Central Florida, a fact that makes it a popular destination with anglers. The species include large-mouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, sunshine bass, speckled perch, catfish and a variety of other sweetwater fish.

The wildlife of Florida is rich and varied, yet most of us are familiar with only a dozen or so species. Florida's amphibians include amphiumas, mudpuppies, newts, salamanders, sirens, frogs and toads.

Many interesting mammals can also be found in Florida, including armadillos, bears, beavers, bobcats, deer, feral pigs, foxes, manatees, minks, moles, opossums, otters, panthers, pocket gophers, rabbits, raccoons, seals, shrews, skunks, squirrels, and weasels.

Of course reptiles don't only include the American Alligator, but also anoles, geckos, lizards, skinks and turtles. Hobby naturalists will really enjoy their getaway to Central Florida.

A wonderful summary of Florida's wildlife can be found in a Wildlife Calendar at Visit Florida.

The downtown area is the heart of Carlisle, full of antique shops, art galleries, chic shops, many modern lodging facilities, a performing arts center, and, many fine restaurants.

The community is very diverse and expanding culturally, intellectually and socially. It has 3 colleges and boasts its award winning schools. I understand from the local residents that in last few years the town began to decline, but much progress is being made to return the town to through a massive renovation program, with the city fathers and residents working together to achieve their goals. Carlisle is now presenting itself to everyone as a unique and beautiful historic and interesting town once again.

People come here from all over, for many reasons. It has become a destination for the local areas and, being just a couple of hours drive from many local upscale communities, Carlisle is experiencing a renewed economic boom with its businesses and shops drawing people from throughout the central Pennsylvania area. Additionally, Carlisle’s fine lodging in its downtown allows visitors to take in not only Carlisle but surrounding historic and scenic areas.

Located only minutes from Harrisburg, Hershey, Gettysburg, and Lancaster, and just two hours from Philadelphia and Washington D.C, Carlisle is but a short drive away, but a world apart.

Founded in 1751 as the county seat, Carlisle was the largest and wealthiest town in Cumberland County. When walking through this wonderful community, you can’t help but notice the little things that make Carlisle special. Even in past times, there were writings of the special qualities and uniqueness of the town. “The streets of the town are straight and there are many genteel houses…” wrote Johann David Schoepf in 1783. “Almost all [the houses are] built of stone..” wrote M. St. Jean DeCrevecoeur in 1787. He continued; the houses, instead of adjoining one another, are separated either by an orchard or by a garden or a barn, often by all three.” Abraham Steiner, on his way to survey lands in Ohio in 1789, described Carlisle as a “beautiful little town…The town has about 350 handsome and for the most part two-story houses, most of which are built of handsome blue limestone…The Court House is not large, but handsome, the prison small and the Market good. There are three churches…a college, and two English schools…”

Today, the special qualities and uniqueness of Carlisle of past continues to intrigue residents and visitors.

If you read a few Alaskan cruise reviews, you will begin to get an idea of the kind of majesty the Alaskan region has to offer. It is rare for a person to come back from an Alaskan cruise without a sense of the grandness of the place. The ships are different, though, and the itineraries cover different locations and sights.

Cruise West: Spirit of Alaska, Glacier Bay Highlights Cruise

Cruise West has a small ship called the Spirit of Alaska. It generally carries less than 75 passengers. Yet the food and the service from the crew members are phenomenal. The accommodations on the cruise were more than satisfactory. The time spent on deck was mostly spent admiring the gorgeous scenery.

The trip began and ended in Juneau, where visitors could see the sights of the city. You could also take a small flight over the Mendenhall Glacier from there. With that, you would get a preview of the landscapes yet to come.

Once the cruise began, there were many views to see. The Idaho Inlet, Glacier Bay and other significant spots were on the itinerary. You could see spectacular mountain views and abundant wildlife. Some of the wildlife included humpback whales, puffins, brown and black bears, otters, eagles, and dolphins. This cruise was well worth taking.

Empress of the North

You will find abundant Alaskan cruise reviews done on the Empress of the North cruise ship. Although the ship is built to convey an atmosphere of luxury, it is up to the task of seeking adventure as well.

There is magnificent art work on the ship. The food is every bit as good as any gourmet food a luxury ship can offer. There are lectures by people who know the Arctic region, and entertainment for you to enjoy. The accommodations are roomy, with queen beds and balconies in many rooms. The shore excursions are also well-planned and well-executed.

Safari Quest: Alaska’s Inside Passage Cruise

There is nothing about the Inside Safari Quest ship that can compare to the spectacular views of the Inside Passage. A ranger is assigned to the ship as a guide to describe the wildlife and surroundings. You will not go away from the Safari Quest cruise without knowing something new about nature in Alaska.

The trip starts in Glacier Bay National Park, and goes on to Boulder Island after that. Next come North Sandy Cove and Gloomy Knob. Outside Tidal Inlet, you can see glaciers before going on to stop at Lamplugh. Reid Inlet is one of the most interesting places to take a walk. Bartlett Cove and Jacks Cove are part of the trip with wildlife and scenery to be seen all the way.

Finding these three Alaskan cruise reviews is easy. Choosing a cruise to take may be much more difficult. After you take one Alaskan cruise you might just decide that you want to take them all. Most of the Alaskan cruises you will find will be enjoyable. You only need to find the best ship to take.

Agro tourism isn’t for everybody, but if you love country living, it may be an ideal vacation for you. Agro tourism is available world-wide—everywhere there are farms. It’s a wonderful way to learn about rural lifestyles and to support local farmers.

There are several kinds of agro tourism vacations. You can stay on a farm just to enjoy country life. You can take a working vacation, and try your hand at farm chores. You can also take an educational vacation, where you learn specific agricultural techniques.

Enjoying the Country Life

Agro tourism is wonderful for family vacations. Children love seeing the animals and learning where food comes from. You usually stay in a farm house or a bunk house, and often take meals with the farm family. You generally have plenty of time for relaxing or sight seeing. Some farm vacations include special activities, such as horseback riding, hayrides and bonfires.

It’s polite to help out with chores. You may not know how to milk a cow, but you can probably make your own bed or load the dishwasher.

Working Vacation

Many people enjoy agro tourism working vacations. It feels good to work physically with plants and animals. It gives you a chance to see if you would enjoy farm life permanently—it’s harder work than most people think it is.

When you schedule a working farm vacation, it’s important to communicate clearly with your host. Make sure you understand exactly what is expected of you. Let your host know if you need instruction for any of the chores you are assigned.

Learning Vacation

Another great reason to take an agro tourism vacation is to learn something. You may be interested in organic gardening, or raising draft horses. An agro vacation can be arranged with an expert in the area you want to know more about.

You learn about people on farm vacation, too. You can take a farm vacation to Central America and learn how climate changes are affecting the lives of rural people there. You can take a farm vacation to Rawanda and learn how people are continuing to recover from the war. You can take a farm vacation to Iowa and learn about the challenges of American farmers.

Agro tourism tends to be less expensive than commercial tourism, but it requires more of you. You stay with hosts who are usually working farmers. You learn about their lifestyle, and about who they are, and why they love farming. You’re usually expected to participate and help out, at least a little. You aren’t an observer on a farm vacation, you’re a “do-er.”
